He was a progressive democrat, he was more progressive than Teddy Roosevelt.11. Sherman Anti Truse ActWilson passed the Clayton Anti Trust Act in 1914 that could break up monopolies and gave labor unions the right to exitst.Rederal Trade Commision was established in 1914, this investigated companies for monopolic practices.12. Underwood taffiff in 1913 drastically cut tarriff rates for the first time since the civil war. a tarriff is a tax on imported goods. the sixteenth ammendment was ratified in 1913 allowing for a graduated income taxthe federal reserve system was developed in 191. This system strengthened banks, allowed for a way to control the amount of the dollar in circulation, it broke the country into twelve districts with each having one Federal Reserve Bank. The federal reserve system can basically control inflation and deflation. The FRB was a "banker's bank" and this system is still around today.While Woodrow Wilson was president, there were three ammendments that were passed, the 17, 18, and 19. Those included the direct election of senators, prohibition, and women's vote. He did not do much for the african americans, he reinstated segregation in Washington D.C., but all in all his presidency was a great one.CHAPTER 10: AMERICA CLAIMS AN EMPIREImperialism, Why did is happen?Imperialism, defined by the dictionary of human geography, is “the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural and territorial relationship, usually between states and often in the form of an empire, based on domination and subordination.” Imperialism, in many ways, is described as a primarily western concept that employs “expansionist – capitalist – and latterly communist – systems."Why do countries colonize?power, land, resources, prove their supremacy, to make moey, to establish naval bases, to get natural resources, to "uplift, civilize, and Christianize" people, for trade, and for refueling systems....tomorrow we will continue this introduction and start discussions.
