What is outsourcing/offshoring and why are many Americans opposed to it?Outsourcing is a new form of collaboration. The procuring of services of products such as the parts used in a motor vehicle used in order to cut costs. Offshoring is where a factory shuts down in the US and moves to a different country because its cheaper.8. Give two examples of “open-sourcing”.It’s a new form of collaboration and innovation. Instead of using windows vista I am going to use Linux because its free. That is when people are collaborating on the same thing to undercut another. TiVo is also a form of informing. Google and Search are examples.10. What are the “steroids” according to Friedman?They are wireless voice over the internet and sharing files. Cell phones are an example.11. According to Friedman, how do people need to change in the future to succeed in a “flat world”?You have to make yourself horizontal. We think vertically. You have to think globally and not just within your small town. Adapt to the new technology.12. Why should young people be concerned with the “flat world”?It is our generation that is going to be affected by the growing use in technology. We have to compete with other young people who might be better with technology than I am.13.
