Somewhere.. Deep in a humid, overgrown, Papua New Guinea rainforest.. In the far corner, weighing in at almost three and a half pounds, and standing at 32.2 inches from nose to tail, is the newly discovered giant Bosavi woolly rat! It was discovered by a team from the BBC in an extinct volcano. not only is it a true rat, it's one of the largest rats discovered. The team discovered more than thirty new species, including 16 new frogs, at least 3 fish, a bat, and many insects. Two years ago in Papua New Guinea, a similar giant rat was found. All of the animals inside the crater weren't afraid of them, mostly because they hadn't seen humans. The locals hunted outside of the crater because of the journey in and back. The crater measures about three kilometers in diameter. The team was in the area for about six weeks, and it became clear to them just how scarce habitats like that were becoming. The trees were being cut down barely 20 miles from where they were.I think people need to really stop destroying habitats so new species can evolve and be discovered. It's just bad knowing that some awesome undiscovered animal is dying and might go extinct before it's discovered.
Someone actually brave enough to hold the nasty animal
