Canada’s Newfoundland premier Danny Williams is having heart surgery in the United States. Kathy Dunderdale, deputy premier, has confirmed that Danny Williams is having the surgery. This surgery is not a routine procedure and it was not an option for him in Canada. Newfoundland is less equipped then other parts of Canada. There are usually only common procedures such as CABG (coronary artery bypass grafts) done in Newfoundland. If he would have had the option of having the surgery in Canada he would have had to go to another part of the country to get it.
Canada has the same health care system that President Barack Obama is trying to pass in the United States. It takes about 14 day to schedule and perform a CABG in Canada. In the United States it takes at most 2 days. There are a handful of Canada’s citizens that come to the United States for health care every year.
I believe that the United States should not get this health care plan. This plan would not benefit the nation at all. I think it is a pretty good sign not to get it when citizen with this system are going to another country for treatment. I believe that the quality of service and treatment will decrease if this plan passes.
