Today we are reviewing for our test. Our test will begin on Wednesday. I’m pretty scared because I don’t remember much from last week. We will be starting WWII. For our blog this week we have to answer three questions about WWII. Bruns started talking about the test and what the questions will be on it. He gave us an example of what a good answer would be and it’s going to be pretty intense. I don’t think I’m going to do very well. We are just going to go through all the questions and have the answers.
Describe the cycle of the Great Depression?
-people lose jobs and so there is less spending then companies don’t make money so they have to lay more people off. And the cycle just repeats.
What was the New Deal(1st and 2nd) and it's goals(3 R's)?
-FDR’s plan to help people get out of the Great Depression. It created jobs and stuff like that.
-The First one was to help the top people. The second was to help the common people.
-Relief for the people. Reform the banks and businesses. Recovery from the Depression.
Why did people criticize the New Deal?
-There were people who said they weren’t doing enough to help the old and poor people. They said that FDR needed to give out more money.
-There were other people who said he was doing too much and labeling him as a Communist.
Why was FDR upset with the US Supreme Court and what did he do to try to solve this issue?
-They were calling him unconstitutional. He tried court packing. He wanted to pack the Supreme Court with the judicial act. He wanted to add 1 Supreme Court justice for every member who was over the age of 70. That would allow him to add 6 people and he would want to add democrats. It did not pass and many people thought he was trying to become a dictator.
