Today in CWI, we continued our debate. Topics debated were -environmental laws -affirmative action laws -immigration -minimum wage (I'm discussing the republican views)Environmental laws- Well both parties want to save the environment. No one is totally against saving it. Republicans just think that trying all these extreme efforts to save the environment are too much. Extreme environmental policies destroy jobs and damage the economy.Affirmative action laws- Jobs and schools shouldn't accept people because of their race. They should hire/accept people because of their abilities. Like Mr. Bruns said, if a black woman and a white man are applying for the same job, and the man is a little better qualified, the woman might get the job because she's black and she's a woman. Reverse discrimination isn't the answer.Immigration- We should stop illegals from entering the country. Amnesty just encourages them, because once they get over here, they can apply for amnesty and not get deported or anything if they become a citizen in so many years. We should only allow so many legal immigrants into our country.Minimum wage- States should be able to set their own minimum wages if we can't just get rid of the whole deal. It's bad for the economy, and small businesses.
