5. Woodrow Wilson's background(333)

-grew up in south after the civil war and reconstruction

-before entering polictics, wilson worked as a lawyer, history professor, president of princeton university, gov. of NJ


6. Woodrow Wilson's Presidential accomplishments(332-335, 363)

-passed the federal reserve act

passed clayton antitrust act(1914)-set up labor unions, made them legal, broke up big monopolies

-federal trade commission act(1914)-investigated companies for monopolistic practices

-led america through world war one

-announced fourteen points-what wilson wanted the end of WW1's treaty to be

- helped pass treaty of Versailles-peace treaty basically


7. Election of 1912(330-331)

-3 candidates instead of 2

-TR as republican, Taft as progressive, and Woodrow wilson as democratic

-Eugene V. Debs- ran for socialist party

-Wilson winning by loads of electoral votes and 2 million popular votes

-TR shot in chest, speech slowed down bullet, continued hour long speech before going to hospital

-during campaign before the elecetion, both TR and taft take shots at each other

-wilson wins election
