The Big Picture
Invading the Soviet Union was probably one of Germany’s biggest mistakes of the war. Hitler thought it would be over quickly but the winter set in and it took longer. Germany’s army was split into three spearheads to try and capture Leningrad, Moscow, and Stalingrad. Hitler thought he had to get to the oil fields and the three cities. Germans took 90% of Stalingrad until they were pushed back. They never got to Moscow.
Eisenhower was the supreme Allied commander. The Germans tried to get to the sea in the Battle of the Bulge. VE Day was May 8th 1945.
Japan invaded Manchuria and China and then they needed resources but we quit trading with us. They took many islands until they were turned back at Midway and Coral Sea. Navajo code talkers were able to get code between troops without being captured or decoded.
Kamikazies were very dangerous against the carriers.
