Operation Barbarosa was Hitlers attack on th Soviet Union. This plan was perhpas the worst tactical error in history. Hitler believed that he could defeat the Soviet Union within a matter of months. However, Hitler did not compensate for the harsh Russian winter and the Germans were pushed back by the well adapted Soviets.

Hitler was now fighting a two-sided war which ultimately led to his downfall.

Hitler was trying to drive his troops the the Causcasus mountains. There were plentiful oil fields in these mountains and Hitler knew that he needed these oil fuels for much needed resources. It took nearly three years for the Soviets to push back the Germans all the way back to Berlin.

Hitler was spreading his supplies and resurces too think with the fighting in Africa, Russia, and Europe. The battl of Stalingrad was the largest land battle in human history. Millions of people died with the Soviets suffering the most loss. The Germans were literally about 50 miles away from the capital, Moscow. The Germans very well could have takn control of the entire country if they could have taken Moscow.

The Battle of Leningrad. The Germans laid siege over the city. The Germans cut off the railroad supplies and nearly 650,000 people died of starvation. People resorted to eating rats and even cannibalism. Bernard Montgomery and George Pattorn were th British and US allied generals. They did not lik each other very much because they were in a fierce competition over who could defeat and capture th German general Rommel.

Dwight D Eisenhower was the Supreme Commander of all Allied Forces. This guy (future president) was the head hancho who carried out D-Day on June 6, 1944. VE day was Victory in Europe day May 8, 1946? FDR died and Truman was sworn in made the call to drop the atomic bombs on Japan.

Decmber 7, 1941 was not only the bombing of Pearl Harbor, but the Japanes attacked many countries including the Philpenes which was a US province. The famous baton death march was when the Japanese had captured many US troops and forcd them to march from one plac to another. Many died due to poor conditions, starvation, and the brutality of the Japanese.

This is about all that I will put for today. The Japanese were completly brutal and even told there troops to commit suicide other than be captured and tortured by the Amricans. They had a preconcieved notion that we wre the mosters. History has shown us that it was the other way around.
