1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them? They got a lot of landand money from Germany, but they still weren't happy with it becausethey wanted more and wanted Germany to have less.

After WWI they were worried about Germany and theSoviet Union coming up again and they felt like they were the onlycountry left on the land in Europe that had to deal with these newforces(GB was an island so even though they were there France stillfought alone). France focused so much on defense and they built a hugewall on their border but stopped. Germany just had to go throughBelgium like in WWI. France's strategy was defensive.

Joined GB in 1938 to sign theMunich Pact, they let Hitler take over some of Chechaslovokia and allof Austria and then told France and GB that he wouldn't take overanymore land. They gave into Hitler's demands so that it could preventwar which obviouls didn't work. France declared war on Germany in 1939but they surrendered by 1940. Germans occupied France until 1944,350,000 French soliers and half a million civilians were killed.

General: Leader of the Free French Forces(one of the two govt thathappened, the wanted to free France from the Germans) was GeneralCharles de Gaulle. Vichy govt, other French govt at the time, Hitlerlet them stay so they were allies with Germany and Japan. They wouldturn over French Jews to Hitler.

5. What were the goals of the leader? To try to have a dominatepolitical party in China. China tried to just defend their contrybecause in 1931 Japan invaded them to get resources.

General: China was invaded, they never left their home country, Japantook a lot of land from China and were just terrible to them. Once theUS came in and bombed Japan China finally did overcome and win. Alsowith how big China was and how many people were there it was just tomuch for Japan to overcome with how small they were.
