Today Mr. Bruns informed us that we have free choice blogs this weekend, and asked a few students to do thier blogs over a couple of topics that he wanted to be talked about. Then we went over the Latin America map again. Lastly we went over the assigned blogs over Iraq we had this weekend.

  • Saddam Hussein wasn't the wealthiest when he started out in life, he got into politics and was interested in oil refineries. Worked his way up to presedent by getting people to like him and helping the poor. Became general of Iraq army in 1978, and became President in 1979 because people thought he was a great person in general. Then he worked it into kinda being not a complete dictator ship and made it be a certain religion and tried to kill off a certain religion- sheites?? Then because he killed so many people and had so many relatives die mysteriously a lot of people started to mistrust him, wouldn't cooperate with weapon inspectors. His trial lasted nine months and he got hung in Bagdad in Dec. 2006.
  • Why we went to war with Iraq in 1990- Sadi Arabia asked us and the United Nations to because Saddam invaded Kwait when he thought they were taking oil from them. There were a lot of surrounding countries that decided their disputes needed to stop. Our goals were to mainly get Kwait free of Iraq. The main reason that we stated getting terrorists and Iraq started hating us around the 1990 was because of the persian golf war, we never really left after it ended and we got them out of Kwait.
  • What were the results of that war and consequences for Iraq as result of the persian golf war? Thousands of people and soldiers were killed and left in poverty after the bombing. Saddam brain washed his people into thinking that they had won the war by taking over the media and said Bagdad never invaded, he was still in power, and had they lost he wouldn't be in power, and their cities would have been distroyed. America spent more that six billion dollars on that war.
