Today we did our blog discussions. Matt and I did our discussions on Saddam Hussein. Courtney and Makayla did theirs on why Iraq went to war in 1990. It was because Iraq under Sadam Hussein invaded Kuait. Hussein felt he had to invade them becase of oil. The goal of the 1990 Pursian Gulf war was to free Kuwait. Iraq easily lost. The hatered of the United States from Al Quida/Taliban startedin the 1990s. Morganne's topic was why Iraq did what they did. Iraq decided to invade because of disputes over oil with Kuait. The results of the war and consequences for Iraq was Kara and Trey's topic. Thousands of Iraqi people were killed and many were left homeless. The war costed a lot for Iraq and costed $60million for the United States. Iraq lost, Kuait was free, and Hussein was still in power. Saddam Hussein brainwashed the Iraqi people into thinking they won the war. He said Baghdad wasn't invaded and he was still in power, so obviously they won the war. In a dictatorship, the government controls the media. We will continue with the blog discussions tomorrow.
