Today we went through Mr. Bruns' project.
Soviet Union-- dropped out of WWI with Germany. They gave a lot of land with Germany. They did this to fight the Bolshevik Revolution. The communist won. Communism-- Were poor raise up, and over throw the rich and eventually the government will be over thrown and the country will be equal. Stalin secceded him.
Germany-- Weimar Republic was a government that was put into place. It failed because it was a brand new government and Germany had never had a democracy. They had just lost the war. A huge depression that had just set it. It was not popular. Hitler used this to come to power. Hilter dismantled this democracy.
Hilter- Born in 1898. His father beat him. He hated school and always got in trouble. He struggled. He didn't get into art school. He joined the German military. He was injured twice once by gas and one time he was shot. He finally thought that he fit in somewhere. Because of his great leadership skills and speaking skills he became very popluar and people started to follow him. In 1923 he tried to over throw the government and failed. He was put in prison for this. He wrote a book in prison. "Mein Kampf" meaning "My Struggle".
Italy went to fascism right away. This means big believers in imperialism. Mussoloni wanted to make the Mediterranean Sea an Italian Lake.
Japan never really had a lot of natural resources. They relied on trading. Japanese also invaded Manchuria for natural resources. They could no longer trade with other because of the high tariffs caused by the depressions. They invaded China because of the tough times. Six years later they invaded the rest of China. They were never able to get all of the country side.
We passed naturallity acts so that we did not trade with countries that were at war with eachother.
After the Panan Incident Japan and the U.S. just went down hill from there.
*League of Nations- World Wide peace keeping treaty. Its weaknesses were that the U.S. did not join and they had no military power to enforce things.
