In class today we continued on with the presentations.

Japan

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

Japan got quite a bit of Germany's land and also a little in China.
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?

Japan had a constitutional monarchy.
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?

Hirohito became Emporor when his father died. Hideki Tojo became the Army Minister in 1941.
4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII?

The leaders during the 1920 outlawed war but during the 1930's they built there military back up and attempted to gain resources from china
5. What were the goals of the leader?

He wanted to get resources frrom china. They focused on defense from the US because our Navy was much better than theirs.
6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)?

They wanted to take out the Americans at Pearl Harbor and attempted to take over many islands.
7. What role did they play in WWII?

They attacked Pearl Harbor and inturn got two giant bombs dropped on them. They invaded China and dropped out of the League of Nations.
8. Who were their allies in WWII?

They sided with the Axis Powers
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?
The dropping of the atomic bomb was devistating to Japan. Many were killed instantly and many more died within the next few years due to radiation from the bomb.
