Our blog topic for this week will be free choice, and the Latin America test will be next Tuesday and Wednesday. Today in class we went over our assigned blogs on Iran (this will be on our test tomorrow).

  • Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the current Presedent of Iran. He's Islam and got 62% of the votes in 2009. He says Iran has sucseffuly gotten Iranium from the ground, and is working towards developing nuclear weapons for power. He says he doesn't like Isreal, it should be knocked off the face of the Earth, thinks we planned 9-11, and The Holocaust never really happend. We don't believe that he's just trying to use nuclear power for just energy, we think he's trying to make weapons also.
  • Summer election of 2009 Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, recieved 62% of the votes. The runner up got 34% and questioned the credability of the election wich started protests and rioits, protesters started off a bomb, serious questions were asked about it's government and the future of Iran. During the rioting they arrested people with British passports and started arresting British diplomats, Britian did the same back to them. Many people think that the election was rigged.
  • There are six diffrent branches in the United Nations. The United Nations is a group of 192 countries that maintain peace and human rights. It has six official languages. Two of it's main orginizations: General Assembly (everybody in the council), Security Council (to maintain international peace and security- decides to wage war- five main countries run it and about six that change every few years- everybody has to agree in order to send troops somewhere). Others: Economic and social council, international court of justice, secratariat, trustee ship council. They help with social problems, economics, security law, and human rights.
  • The actual leader of Iran is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei- the supreme leader of Iraq (many people believe Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is his puppet). Was the victum of an assasination attemp- paralized hand. Supports the Presedent and stem-cell research. He got 95.2% of the votes in the country. He doesn't do interviews at all, is the face of Iran. He pulls all the strings in the country.
  • Iran's role in Iraq war- Iran and Iraq help eachother out, and have a lot of the same beliefs. Iran is giving Iraq weapons, and bombs to use against us, it's starting to concern the united states. We have sent messages asking them to stop getting involved, but they denie that they have been involved, although we have proof that they are helping. They're supplying terrorists, weapons, bombs, and trained people to fight us.
  • Religon of Iran: most are Islomic, two main sects to it, the shuni(82%) and the shei (15%). Believes of the sheits are followers of Alli, and there are three diffrent sections of them. The shunis follow the curran, biggest branch of islam, any member can lead in a prayer. Some of the laws of the Islamic people are, there is only one god, unlawful intercourse, consumtion of alchohol, and theft. Both groups don't always get along.
