Our blog topic for this week will be free choice, and the Latin America test will be next Tuesday and Wednesday. Today in class we went over our assigned blogs on Iran (this will be on our test tomorrow).
- Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the current Presedent of Iran. He's Islam and got 62% of the votes in 2009. He says Iran has sucseffuly gotten Iranium from the ground, and is working towards developing nuclear weapons for power. He says he doesn't like Isreal, it should be knocked off the face of the Earth, thinks we planned 9-11, and The Holocaust never really happend. We don't believe that he's just trying to use nuclear power for just energy, we think he's trying to make weapons also.
- Summer election of 2009 Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, recieved 62% of the votes. The runner up got 34% and questioned the credability of the election wich started protests and rioits, protesters started off a bomb, serious questions were asked about it's government and the future of Iran. During the rioting they arrested people with British passports and started arresting British diplomats, Britian did the same back to them. Many people think that the election was rigged.
- There are six diffrent branches in the United Nations. The United Nations is a group of 192 countries that maintain peace and human rights. It has six official languages. Two of it's main orginizations: General Assembly (everybody in the council), Security Council (to maintain international peace and security- decides to wage war- five main countries run it and about six that change every few years- everybody has to agree in order to send troops somewhere). Others: Economic and social council, international court of justice, secratariat, trustee ship council. They help with social problems, economics, security law, and human rights.
