Today we had Japan

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them? the japanese got all of Germany's islands north of the equator.
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)? constitutional monarchy. they had a emperor and prime minister.
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power? Emperor Hirohito was the first son of Prince Yoshihito
4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII? He started the showa era. and he changed their opinion of war.
5. What were the goals of the leader? japan wanted to gain resources from china and they wanted to cripple the United States. Manchuria was used as a buffer against the soviet union.
6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)? to destroy american forces in pearl harbor. they wanted to establish a defensive line in the pacific.
7. What role did they play in WWII? they sided with the axis powers and they took the entire east coast of china.japan took many pacific islands and attacked pearl harbor.
8. Who were their allies in WWII? Germany, Italy, other axis countries.
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country? huge destruction from atomic bombs was the biggest impact of WWII. they joined the league of nations, they reduced their military.
