Today we are having blog discussions on our WWII movies. One of the movies people had watched was the pianist and almost everyone hated it. It is about a Jewish pianist who plays for a radio station. The radio station had been bombed by Germany. He was saved by a policeman and put into a unit. His family however was put into the ghetto. At the unit he was smuggling food and weapons. Then he would have to hide. Some one took notice of him and figured out he was the pianist. The person was a Nazi officer and had him play in his attic and gave him food. After a while the officer got him to play for the radio station again. In one big step people will fight for their rights but if you take them away little by little they will just sit there and deal with it. Another group watched the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. There were other groups last week who had watched and discussed this so I don’t need to say much about this. Steph and Shelbie watched Defiance; it was about 3 boys who are brothers from Poland. They escape the ghetto and run to their house in the woods. People find out about them living there. While living there they hear that their family was killed. They started a community but the people were getting sick. So they stole medicine from the Germans. Then they were fighting against Germany. This was based on a true story. It was my turn to talk about Valkyrie after they discussed Defiance. Saving Private Ryan was watched by a different group again this week but we already discussed it last week. Ian watched the Dirty Dozen and Enemy at the gates he had two because he missed discussion last week. We didn’t get to presentations today because discussion took to long.
