monday, january 11th.

Today was the first day of class since last Wednesday. We went through all the basics again, like website grading, message board posts, and daily reflective blogs. Mr. Bruns went through the extra credit opportunities. The three are getting fifty message board posts, interviewing someone, and making a video like the ones they do in School News. There are now alot of different options for testing. Either the oral test, a written test after you take atleast one oral test, doing a podcast in class or at home. If you do the video at home, no breaks will be allowed and notecards will not be accepted. A parent will have to be filmed saying that the students did not use any notes.Tomorrow we are watching a movie in class. If there is ten minutes left in class, there could possibly be a "ticket out the door." You would maybe have to write a brief description on the movie our class just watched. The question for the "ticket out the door" will be a broad question, not any specific question like asking for a certain person. It will always be based on something written in the reflective blogs. The "ticket in the door" will not be the same day for every class period.Again, like last semester, the semester test will be oral. Mr. Bruns has not made a decision as to where the written test will be an option or not. We will have to do a semester blog again. The test is posted on The Essentials For U.S. History on the U.S.H. page. Some students wait til the very end and go back and "relearn" everything. That is what I did in the first semester. There are eight essentials that will be included in the semester test blog and the semester test. Randomly, four questions out of the eight will be asked while taking the semester test. As we move through the semester, it would be smart to take notes on each question while we learn about them.We will be getting into groups today. Mr. Bruns said that there should be two or three people in the group. Hopefully he allows four. Ha. Do not freeload when groups are working together. Also, do not enable the freeloading. Towards the end of the semester (or quarter), a citizenship grade will be given.to any nice or responsible student. We got put into groups now. My group is Shelbie Renee Jacobsen and Brandon Javier (James) Fitzmaurice. We will dominate. The first group project will be later this week.
