brotherhood of sleeping car porters--didnt get paid much, had to pay to stay on train while working, first major black union

tuskegee airmen--first black aviation group, flew in WWII, still segregated

Malcome X--born in Omaha, black rights speaker, turned to crime, spent time in jail, into Islam, left that when leader started going against his own teachings, assassinated by the nation of Islam

Lynching--popular in the south, hang blacks cuz they felt like it, 5000 lynched, sit by and watch it happen
