Public Works Administration. Thegovernment had construction projects and they saved half of them forblacks and this eventually turned these places into ghettos. The FHAmortgages in short term were really bad at that time. Banks needed toget their money back so many homes were foreclosed Banks still lostmoney from doing this so they eventually shut down. The FHA planned tocontroll the interest rates since they were really high. they wanted tostimulate the housing market by helping people to afford the downpayment on houses and mortgages. This convinced banks to end more andthat lead to lend more money. After four years of this people were ableto by a house with ten percent down and then they could get a twelveyear mortgage. Up til this point it was all about taking away fromNative Americans. With this act we were giving back to them. It isstill around today.
