What did the new deal do to help the unemployed?

-Started many construction jobs, built dams

-hired people to build roads and buildings

-hired people who were artistic, singing, speaking, and dancing

Describe the Cycle of the Great Depression

Lose jobs-loss spending- companies don’t make $- lose jobs..

What was the New Deal 1st and 2nd it’s goals (3Rs)

-A plan to get people jobs and to get them out of the great depression. FDR’s plan

-Difference between 1st and 2nd- 1st was to aim the top down,1st was to help the big business and 2nd was to help the common people, with welfare and others.

-RRR- Recovery,Reform,Relief – Relief was for the people. Reform was for the banks and the economic. Recovery was for recovering from great depression.

Why did people criticize the New Deal.

-People said that FDR was not doing enough.

-Huey Long wanted people to share wealth, taking money from the rich and give it to the poor.

Why was FDR upset with the Supreme Court

-AAA,NIRA, saying his things were unconstitutional

What did FDR do to make sure the Supreme Court did not declare things unconstitutional

-Court Packing- Stacked the court in his favor, put most of the democrats on the court so whenever he passed a law they were on his side.

-Judicial Act of 1957?

-Did this pass, no it did not pass, many people felt that he was being to controlling.

Describe the culture of the 1930’s…

Key terms

100 days- First hundred days was graded of Roosevelt’s presidency.

Fireside Chats- People would gather around and listen to Roosevelt on the radio.

Priming the Pump- government had to pump a bunch of money into the economy to jump start it. The economy would not start on it’s own so the government started it

Deficit Spending- The government spends more than what they make.
