Today in class we started talking about World War 1. I learned that usually think discussion takes about a month, but this year it'll take us about five days. Maybe even or four (counting on snow days) :].World war 1 lasted from 1914 to 1918. The United states was in it from 1917 til 1918. After WW1 turkey lost a lot of land because they were weak. Germany was very strong and continued to get stronger.Europe went to war constantly through out the late 1800's and early 1900's. Every country in Africa was taken over except for two. Asia was also dominated. Imperialism was a huge reason for World War 1. A reason Germany lost was because the u.s. was on one side and there military had to slip because Russia was on one side of them and France was on the other. The assignation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand make the war become a World war. Militarism is countries building up there armies and becoming huge. We were militarism. When countries are building up their militarizes the world becomes more dangerous. Imperialism was very common. This led to competition, conflict, and greed. Nationalism is like patriotism. This is a dangerous thing. (For ex. Adolf Hitler.) Alliances caused the war also. An alliance is like a war friendship. This makes countries strong. It like countries have each others back. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was going to be the next leader of Austria- Hungary. Then, they declare war on Serbia. The Von Schlieffen plan was their plan.There were 3 types of trenches used throughout the world. The reason for trenches were to avoid getting shot.I think that trenches were a very good idea to have. I bet it saved many, many lives. It really surprises that the United States was only in the World War I for about a year.
