Today we started talking about World War I. Kaiser Wilhelm was the leader of Germany during WWI. Germany was the main power and was getting stronger. Imperialism was one of the main causes of WWI. Asia was dominated by Britain, France, Italy, the Dutch colonies, and many others. Germany lost because the U.S. was on the other side, they were also in a two sided war. They had no where to go and their military had to split. One of the main causes of WWI was militarism. Why are they building their military? To protect themselves of course. Imperialism was another cause of WWI. Africa and Asia were both take over by different places in the world. It led to competition and greeve. Nationalism was another cause. National insults were a reason why people went to war. Hitler thought Germans and Germany were the greatest. Extreme nationalism was extremely dangerous. Countries form alliances so people have their back and they are fearful of another country. If you are forming alliances its most likely to start a war. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the leader of Austria-Hungary. His assasination was a major start of WWI. Gavrilo Princip was the one who killed him as only a teenager. There were a number of conpirasies involved in his assasination. The Powderkeg-Balkan Peninsula has a ton of ethnic groups who didnt like each other, they wanted their own countries. The alliance system created a European war because countries were colonizing. The ultimate goal of the war was the colonies of the losers. Most of the fighting happened in northern France. They kept Russia out of the war because they were allies with them. Trench Warfare was the ultimate deffensive stragedy. The front line, support, and reserve trenches were the three types of trenches. It was safe because they couldnt get shot because they were underground. When the others would come they would shoot out of the treches.
