I had a perfectly written blog today in class.. opened another tab to look at my free choice blog, and bam! my well-written blog has vanished. So here I go, trying to remember what we talked about in class.John F. KennedyJFK was the 35th president and died at the age of 46. He was born in 1917 in MA. to a very prominent family. His father influenced John in his career and persuaded him to go into politics. His family lived in MA. for ten years and rented a mansion, then moved to another huge mansion in New York. He had eight brothers and sisters, and John attended many private schools. He also attended Harvard University. He volunteered for the US Army but was rejected because of his back problem, but then, with help from his father, was accepted to the Navy. His ship was rammed by the Japanese and sank, but he swam to an island, carrying another person with his teeth. He carved a message into a coconut and was rescued. He was named a hero, and received the Purple Heart in WWII.In 1946, John ran for the House of Rep. for MA and won, which was a big win for him. He was reelected in 1948 and 1950, but lost to Eisenhower in 1952. He ran for president in 1960, and chose Lyndon B. Johnson as his running mate from Texas because he was Catholic and didn't have much support from the south. He was the first Roman Catholic to become president, and many people were troubled by this because they thought the pope would make many decisions. He married Jacqueline Bouvier in 1953 and was very popular and featured in magazines. They were the youngest couple in the White House. They had five children, with only two surviving, Caroline and John Jr. John became best friends with his brother on a seven-week trip to Asia, and his brother became his campaigning partner. We then talked about our free choice blogs.
