George Washington was the first president of the US. He had many achievments. he started the Cabinet, basically started the Two year running of being president. he had resigned after two years and the tradition just sort of started.
Jefferson was another president. His greatest achievment was the Louisiana Purchase. He had purchased it from france for 15,000,000 dollars. It nearly doubled the size of our country.

Impressment: Britain was stopping US ships and would take people back to british ships. That was the main cause of the war. There was also border disputes. There was a treaty of Ghent, it ended the war.
This was the war when Washington DC was burned down. There wasnt a HUGE cause of this war. After the treaty of Ghent, britain and US slowly started to get along again
#14 Describe the Causes and Effects of the Texas war for Independence
Mexico was inviting more and more people to come to texas/mexico, and as more and more people came Texas started to enforce certain rules that people did NOT agree with,. Most people had to be Catholic and had to speak spanish. The battle of Alamo, was a war between texas and mexico. It was the biggest war between these two places. Texas had eventually won independence from mexico, and had become its own country. Not too soon after texas had decided to join America.

1850's. America wanted mexico's land. Rio Grande separates mexico and texas today. there was a border dispute. Mexico said the border between america and mexico was river Neules while america said it was Rio Grande. US thought mexico would invade the US so president Polk(?) sent Troops down to Rio Grande. Mexico did end up attacking us. The biggest cause of this war was the we wanted land. We took almost 50% of mexico, but had paid them 20,000,000 dollars for it. Another reason for this war had dispised us for mannyyy years.

The main cause of this war was Slavery. Most of the Northerners opposed slavery, and Southerners wanted slavery, because many of them owned plantations. There was the election of President Lincoln. Many southern states knew that Lincoln was against slavery and that is when southern states started to secceed. The southern states wanted to become their own country. The north was becoming more industrial and the south was not. There was also the invention of the cotton gin, which had made the southerners want MORE slaves.

During this war the North had more people, weapons, food, and more railroads which gave them a better advantage. They had more money and factories than the south. They also had Abraham Lincoln, who was a very strong leader. The south had the advantage of "home feild." They new the land, the climate, ect.
#19 Give postive and negatives effects recontruction had on the US
Recontruction of the US changed laws, and gave black people more freedom. It took place right after the Civil War. Ammendments 13, 14, & 15 abolished slavery, gave them more rights, and gave black men the right to vote. Freedmans Bureau- set up in the south to help african americans to get them education, jobs, get homes, ect. The blacks ruled most of the south due to the huge population, this was bad because southerners were mainly scared or concerned about this because they were no longer in power, and the blacks were making headway. The south started killing blacks because of this. This started the Ku Klutz Klan. (KKK). After the 12 year time period of recontruction, the racist democrates were starting to be in power again.
