There was no school today again. It was the last day of spring break. I did a little bit of research for our project though. Deforestation is when trees are cut down in wide areas and forests start to vanish. It is destroying the homes of wildlife and increasing the amount of floods in the world. Without trees, we can have a shortage of oxygen and have to much carbon monoxide. Most of the deforestation is taking place in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. In a year there’s about 11 million acres of trees cut down just for commercial and property industries. The McDonald’s company alone needs trees that cover almost 800 square miles just for a years worth of burger packaging. Another one of the big causes of deforestation is cattle grazing. 15000 km squared of trees is used for this in just the Amazon region. Building dams also uses a lot of wood which is cutting down the supply of trees and acid rain is killing/harming a lot of them as well. The situation can be helped by being a green person overall. Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
