Today is the last Monday of April. Holy cow this month just flew by. What did we do in class today? yep, more and more presentations. The US Homefront is a pretty basic topic. Taxes were raised dramatically to pay for war costs. Farmers were leaving the fields to move to the cities so that they could work in the factories. Students and younger people were leaving school and working in factories and in the fields. Women were taking over factories and unemployment went down dramatically.
The war began to reduce the Great Depression into nothing more than a bad memory. The economy was being regulated and watched extensively to ensure that another depression wouldn't occur. I suppose that it may have taken many more years for the Deppression fade away if the war had never happend. Its a strange thought to think that war can have many or any benefits, but it does.
