17. Describe major events, compromises and incidents leading up to the Civil War.
Underground Rail Road- places were african americans could run and hide till they could get far enough north.
Dread Scott Case- african americans weren't US citizins so slaves were allowed. Huge win for the south. Uncle Toms Cabin- no slaves opened peoples eyes about slaves telling them that it was a bad idea.. Missouri Compermise- 36 30 Latitube line no slave north of that line any thing south can have slaves. Lincon elected president- people thought that he was going to get rid of slaves, so south left to form confedercy. South didnot believe him that the slaves could stay where they where.
18. Describe the advantages of the North and South during the Civil War.
Adv North- abe president more people bigger army,, better railroads, indrusted go to support army, navy addvantage. South- bigger backroads and areas, own area, good millitary leaders, best generals, food from their farms, 7 of the 8 millitary colleges best men to fight. Better cause to be fight be if they lost they would have to change their whole life.
19. Define Reconstruction and give positive and negative effects Reconstruction had on the US.
Resonstruction- 1865-1877 when the us was rebuilding the mess of the Civil War. Positive effects- Freemans Berau- gave african amercians food education, clothes help get start as a free person. 3 admanments 13th get no slave though out the nation, 14th african americans equal protection of land laws, etc 15 th cant dien vote to any male right to vote.
Negative- white northers went south and took over the government. if not white races males would take over and that would not be good. farm land really bad , share cropers- share land but have to give so of the crops to the sharer. 12 year time frame.
