Today we are reviewing for the New Deal Test. Mr. Bruns added a question to the New Deal Test, it is Describe the cycle of the Great Depression. The cycle is Companies aren't making a lot of money, which in turn made the company lay off people. The people that lost their jobs will spend less money, which means that the companies will make even less money. Then more people lose jobs and the cycle continues. The three R's of the New Deal were relief, recovery, and reform. Relief was for the people, Recovery was for the economy and from the Great Depression, and reform was for the banking system.
The New Deal helped the unemployed by making numerous construction jobs. The CCC gave young men jobs to prevent forest fires and soil erosion. The CWA made railroads, schools, and airports. The PWA gave artists and musicians jobs. We also talked about some of the key terms. The Hundred Days was the first 100 days of FDR's presidency.
