Today Mr. Bruns went over his powerpoint on World War I. I learned that WWI began with the assassination Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was going to be the next leader of Austria Hungary. Gavrillo Princip was the man that killed him. I learned that he was a young man who was a member of the black hand. Archduke Franz Ferdinand's killings was all a conspiracy. After the assassination of Archduke Franze Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary send an ultimatum to Serbia. Serbia refused to accept the ultimatum, so Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. WWI should have been just between these two countries, but because of the Alliance System it became a world war.I learned that the The Von Schlieffen was the plan that Germany had for the war. They would attack and conquer the France quickly so they could focus fighting Russia. I aslo learned that the plan did not work out this time, but a similar plan worked for the Germans in WWII. WWI was the last war that gas was able to be used. It was made illegal after World War I. The weapons that were used included flamethrowers, grenades, machine guns, pistols, and gas. Another thing I learned was that gas didn’t work all of the time because of the wind.
