I also learned that at the battle of San Juan Hill, Teddy Roosevelt was known as the hero of the battle San Juan Hill and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions.Discuss the effects of the Spanish-American War. On December 10, 1898 the United States and Spain met in Paris to agree on a treaty. I also learned that the main problem with The Treaty of Paris was Imperialism. Some people felt that the Treaty of Paris had violated the Declaration of Independence by denying self government to the newly acquired territories. Another thing that I learned was that after the war had ended only 385 people died of combat deaths, many more people died of poor living conditions.
