Know which countries were acquired as territories or gained independence as a result of this war as well as casualties and other points of the Treaty of Paris,I learned that The Treaty of Paris ended the Spanish-American war, which freed Cuba from Spain and turned over Guam, Puerto Rico, and sold they also sold the Philippines for $20 million. On December 10, 1898 the United States and Spain met in Paris to agree on a treaty. I also learned that the main problem with The Treaty of Paris was Imperialism. Some people felt that the Treaty of Paris had violated the Declaration of Independence by denying self government to the newly acquired territories. Another thing that I learned was that after the war had ended only 385 people died of combat deaths, many more people died of poor living conditions.
