Today, we found out that our assigned blog for this week will be free choice. Bruns told us a little bit about the earthquake in Turkey and two other current events that he would like for a few people to do their blogs. After that, we went over the map again. We then did our blog discussions over the Iraq war.

Suddam Hussien- president of Iraq, general position of Iraq army, turned country into a dictatorship; came from a relatively poor family, tried to get people to see him as a nice man, was found and hung in December 2006.

why we went to war with iraq- because saudi arabia asked us too because kiwat was taking oil, they thought iraq would go after them. 43 days of straight bombing happened when the united nations told them to leave but they didn't. the goal of this war was to free kiwat from iraq control. oil issues aroung the border. they started hating us in 1990 because we were based in Saudi Arabia

why did iraq do what they did- they said kiwat was taking oil from them b/c they weren't making their commands

results of war and consequences- thousands of people were killed, building destroyed, costly. we spent 60 million dollars on that war. we lost 148 people. iraq lost. we liberated kiwat, it left 1.9 million people homeless, 1/3 lived in poverty
