japan was in the league of nations. Japan had very few resources cause it was an island. In 1927 they outlawed war. but when the economy crashed, japan could not trade enough because of high taxes, so they invaded other countries to get their resources. japan invaded china for their resources but could not get far cause of china's open country sides. china to japan was like the soviet union for Germany.
the US passed neutrality act making sure we stayed out of war. it said we did not trade with countries who were at war.
FDR's Quarantine speech: Said germany, italy, and japan needed to be quarantined.
Panay Incident: took place in china. a US gun boat was attacked by a japanese fighter. japan apologised for its actions and we accepted. few americans were killed.
Vladimir Lenin-USSR: dropped out of WWI and sign a treaty with germany thus losing the war and giving land to germany. They dropped out of WWI so they could fight the bulschevik revolution. Lenin believd in communism=poor rise up, overthrow the goverment and everyone is equal. Lenin was suceeded by Stalin.
Weimar Republic: Germany's goverment before Hitler.
League of nations: had no military and america wasn't a member, so it failed.
