MLK assassination

On March 29, 1968, Martin Luthur King went to Memphis Tennesee in spite of supporting sanitary black wprkers for better wages. King, was booked at the Lorraine Hotel in room 306. That night, King was shot in his Right cheek, thwen the bullet traveling down his spinal cord before lodging into his shoulder. King was shot just outside of his room on the second floor of the motel. According to Jesse Jackson, he told Ben Branch these words: "Ben, make sure you play Take My Hand, Precious Lord". Some people have accused Jackson that the words were never true.After emegency sugery, King was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. According to the coroner, King had the heart of a 60 year old, even thought he was only 39, this could have been from the stress he had being involved in the Civil Rights Movement, which had been going on for 13 years. the assassination led to riots in more that 100 U.S. cities. When Robert Kennedy heard about the killing, he gave a short speech to remember King. His killer, James Earl Ray, was captured two months later after trying to leave London on a faulse passport from Canada.
