Missing Boaters

Tressel Hawkins and crew members Curtis Hall and James Phillips set out to go fishing for swordfish and marlion about 100 miles south of Matagorda Bay in Texas. Untill one night on the Gulf of Mexico when Hawkins woke up to a huge jolt and sleeping bag staring to float. There was a water extractor malfunction he said causing so much water to get into the boat that the water was knee high. The Crew yelled and screemed and also tried to get the boat from flooding but it was too late. The boat capsized so they jumped ship wondering how it happened so fast. The men were missing since August 22. The coast guard searched for an hour before calling off the search friday. The coast guard serched over 86,000 square miles.A day after the Coast Guard ended its search the crew of a private vessel found Hawkins and his crew upon their capsized 23-foot vessel about 180 miles from Port Aransas, Texas. Hall went to the hospial in Texas to seek medical attention but left after he thought he was waiting too long. Phillips did not seek any medical attention and Hawkins suffered some open sores from being in the water for eight days.
