Mine Explosion.

2:17 on Sunday morning, one of China's worst mine explosion begins to happen. The miners were working in the Tunlan Coal Mine in Shanxi Province, the coal mining heartland of China. The mine is in the city of Gujiao and is managed by the Shanxi Coking Coal Group, one of China's largest producers of coking coal. Coking coal is used in mainly steel production.At the time of the explosion, there were 436 miners were underground in the coal mine. 114 miners still remained hospitalized the Monday after the explosion happened. So many people were still hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning.More then 300 miners were being pulled from the mine by additional rescue efforts. Rescue operations were stopped Monday once all the workings were found. The Shanxi Coking Coal Group produces approximently five millions of coal each year. The Tunlan Coal Mine has had a reputation for its safety and will continue to keep the effort up.Three top mining officials were removed from their posts in the wake of the fatal blast, the China Daily newspaper reported.The last death toll reported, was on Sunday. Records say this mine explosion has been the worst accident since December of 2007, when an explosion in the city of Linfen in Shanxi Province killed 105 miners.
