Today I researched the Mexican American war. Some of the causes of the war were mostly territories. Like California New Mexico and another was Texas. The main conflict that really started the whole war was the rivers. Mexico thought their territory went to the Nueces River and America said it went to the Rio Grande. So when folk sent troops down to the Rio Grande Mexico thought we were invading. So they retaliated and then we thought they were invading and so began the war. The reason the rivers were such a big deal were because there’s a 150 mile difference between the 2 The effects of this war were America got California, New Mexico, and Texas. In return that America forgets about there 3 million dollar debt and paid Mexico 25 to 30 million back. In today’s time that would be like forgetting 75,184,615 million and paying them 626,528,462 to 751,846,151 million back.
