Stalin formed a blockade to cut of Berlin's access of the railroads and roads in Berlin but the blockade didn't work for USSR.
US see the blockade as a test commitment
2.5 million were at risk
It failed for USSR but it turned out a great win for them
Had to send supplies to West Berlin by air
There was daily food rations including flour wheat, fish, meat, cereal, coffee, sugar, powdered milk, yeast, salt, cheese, dried vegetables, dried potatoes, and fat whole milk.
Total of 1,534 tons needed daily to keep 2.5 million people alive everyday
Oil, gas, coal, medicine, and cloths were needed also to keep home warm and to live a bit normal
Over 277,000 flights were made each day to take all these supplies
The country splitted in to two, the west was Federal Republic and the east was Democratic Republic
