It was the time when they would accuse people of being anywhere related to communism even though most really weren't
McCarthism was known for crazy trials
They investigate government departments, took away passports, and book people if they didn't give any names when they were questioned.
This ruined many peoples' careers
Mainly effected writers, entertainers, actors, and artist. 320 artists were blacklisted. Even literature was eliminated because thoughts were going around that it could give out hints and persuade other into communism.
