ASSIGNED BLOG1.) US & NK- They have and have tested nuclear weapons and have threatened the US with them. They have tested nuclear bombs underground. Dennis Rodmen went to North Korea so that he could play basketball and sang happy birthday to Kim Jung Un. Kenneth Bay is in captivity because the NK government was suspicious of his actions and he has been put in captivity. North Korea also isn't caring for its citizens that are in poverty like most of NK is in.
2.) Economic/Political Systems-
Democracy- Where the citizens of the country elect representatives.
Mixed Economy- Where a private and the state own the economy reflects on market and planned economies.
Socialism- major industries are owned by Government, services are given to citizens
Communism0 in a Communist country, the government owns all businesses and farms and provides its peoples health care, education and welfare
dictatorship- Rule =d by a single leader who has not been elected and may use force to keep control
Capitalism- owned by individual people and companies rather than by the government
Monarchy- has a king or queen that has all or some power passed along through the family
3.) Income Inequality- It is the dis balance of where money is and who has how much. The top 20% have 40% of all the money and the bottom 10% have around 1% of the money. It is important that the income and wages are balanced so that the poor aren't barely scraping by. It can be changed by raising taxes, increasing minimum wage and better schooling.
4.) Democrats & Republicans-
-Democrats are more progressive such as with what younger people want, like they are for gay marriage, pot, and against the right to bear arms. Democrats are more modernized with things that involve peoples rights and are more against religion. They want more of a socialistic way such as higher taxes, government handouts and health insurance.
-Republicans want to keep gay marriage out of law and don't think that people should have to go against their religion for their business. Republicans are for firearms. Republicans are against Obamacare and don't want things to become socialistic. Republicans believe lower taxes are better because raising taxes doesn't help anyone. Republicans are against marijuana because it makes people dumb.
5.) The US before the 1900s was a self sufficient country and kept to itself until WWI when the US was thrown into the Imperialistic age. The US took over many islands and got many territories during the Spanish and American War. The US took territories from Spain because Spain was loosing power and was a weaker country. Hawaii was taken over for military advantages and for sugar. Many of the Caribbean islands were taken from Spain and have gained their independence. Alaska was purchased from Russia because Russia was afraid that Great Britain would take it.
6.) US Constitution & Amendments- the US constitution was formed by the founding fathers and it is what the government goes by when passing laws and persecutions. The amendments are what make up the constitution. They are laws that either are for something or against something. The government can add or remove amendments from the constitution by voting on them. The president and congress can either try and pass a law or remove one. Amendments are what citizens and government officials have to live by or if they go against them they will be persecuted. Amendments are hard to get passed and only very few have been passed in the past century.
7.) Climate Change- Climate change could affect the rise in sea levels. It could be said that global warming is melting glaciers and causing water levels to rise and endangered species to go extinct. Global warming may also be causing droughts, such as Chad Lake in Africa. It has dried up and is affecting the climate and the people around it because of its shrinkage. Droughts may also be causing wild fires in dry places which adds to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, through the burning of wood which emits CO2. The rise in water levels is forcing people to relocate and change where they live. Global warming is also affecting the water causing it to warm because of the carbon emissions in the air affecting water life and aquatic species. Farming can also cause the land to change and sediment that is useful to a place where it cant be used for farming. The rise in ocean temps also affects coral reefs that are protectors from waves and for small fish that are food for some people.
