interviewed 41 people ... "friendly witnesses" gave names
a lot of the people were afraid to go to prison so they accused other people of being communist
the hollywood ten.. the most famous group of blacklisted individuals was known as the hollywood ten
they were blacklisted.. so they couldnt really work
the work of the committee started to decline throughout the late 1950s... the former president truman said that it was the most un american thing in the country today. the committee was renamed the house internal security committee in 1969.. the committee was abolished in 1975
