Marian Edelman

Marian Wright Edelman was born in Bennettsville South Carolina she also grew up there.she had 4 other brothers and sisters and her father was a preacher. Marian went to spelman college she was involved with the civil rights movment. She when to Yale to study law. She worked for the NAAPC in New York. She was the first black woman to practice law.Marian helped get the Poor People's Campaign organized. She also began to get more interested to childs development and the children who lived in poverty. Marian created the children's defense fund the CDF in 1973.when bill clinton was elected his wife became interested the CDF that drew attenchion to the organization.Marian is an amzing auther of books like A letter to my children and your.
