US vs. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Definition:
- A political strategic and ideological struggle between the US and the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1990
- Spread out throughout the world - Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America
Terms:
- Communism: Political system; Karl Marx; everybody is equal; Vietnam, North Korea, China, Cuba
- Democracy: Political system; The power is with the people, people have a say, people have a freedom
- Socialism: Government controls business -> economical system; disadvantage: no motivation to work hard; advantage: equal
- Capitalism: People own business -> economical system; disadvantage: one percent of the population has 40% of the wealth
