Monday- Japan started their presentation

Home-front- Women and children were ordered to work in factories and on farms, people did whatever they could to get more resources and raw materials

Basic Facts- Axis power, spent 56 billion in 1945 (over 58 billion in 2005), over 2 billion deaths

War Goals- Invade America to get us out of the war before we joined in (pearl harbor), needed to control the countries in order to not depend on foreign imports

Leaders- Yamamoto- Admiral and Commander-in-Chief of the combined fleet (planned attack on Pearl Harbor)

Hideki Tojo- Prime minister 1941-1944, Arny General during the war, ordered the attack on Pearl Harbor, resigned from position when Japan lost in the war, was killed for war crimes before resignation from military

Hirohito- Emperor of Japan during WW2, approved attack on Pearl Harbor, wasn't accused of war crimes after the war, became the symbol for the future of Japan

Propaganda- wanted to make America and Europe look like imperialists and characterize white people as demons

Major Events- 1918 Treaty of Versailles, got a permanent spot in the League of Nations, came out as a world power after WW1

Major Events- Second Sino-Japanese War, Nanking Massacre- mass murder and rape of 300,000 chinese civilians, argued for being military purposes and not war crimes

Major Battes- Pearl Harbor, Midway, Okinawa

Major Battle Strategies- Mostly offensive but sometimes defensive

Lost War- attacked Pearl Harbor, lacked on resources, pacific war- a lot of resources used, called in the surrender

Impact of WW2 on Japan- Japan's terms of surrender- restricting Japan's land to certain islands, completely disarming military to live peacefully, not enslave but still show stern war crime punishments, made into a democracy, allied troops were to stay in Japan until met requirements, divided between allies, became allies with the US

Tuesday- Bruns put in his two-cents on Japan during the war

Wednesday- Quiz on Friday, continue with Bruns two-cents

Thursday- Continue with the review and watch part of the next episode in the world at war movie

Friday- Quiz today continue watching the rest of the video yesterday
