the german invasion of france.. they wanted to invade them up through belgium. they never got to paris.. trench warefare. the problem with germany in wwi was on one side they were fighting russia and on the other they were fighting france, both sides, causing them to split their troops up. in wwii they didnt have to worry about the soviet union because they had a non agression pact with them so hitler could focus all of his attention on france. wwi was started with the invasion of poland. the sitzkreig came about.. some war. in may of 1940 hitler decided to hit france.. he invadced them through neutral belgium. he did not want to go through the border of germany and france because the magionet line was there.. some barrier with all these built in machine guns and all of that fun gun stuff. within a month nazi germany had pushed all of the french and british forces into like this little pocket thing. hitler was able to take france so quickly because france thought that they were protected by the line and they were not ready to fight.. they were too focused on this defensive strategy. in wwi, germany was forced to surrender in a rail road car in france.. this rail road car was put in a museum.. hitler sent the rail road car to some place that is the exact place where germany had to surrender and made france do the same.

the vichy government was lead by marshal henri petain.. they were like nazi france

the free french underground was lead by charles de gaulle.. they were like the good guys in france. their goal was to free france from german control

neutrality acts.. if war is recognized no trade.

cash and carry system.. if we are the united stares and we are gb and france we have to pay cash for them to take goods from out country so we can stay out of debt our ships dont get sunk and so we was stay out of war.

neutrality acts.. keep us out of war, no trade.. 1936-39.

based for destroyers-us would give gb old destroyers for 99 year leases for numerous naval bases they have aroundd the world. we give them what they nead and they give us naval bases over by the western hemisphere.
