Monday- we did the Germany presentations. Tuesday went over Germany. Wednesday-Went over Germany. Thursday test.
Germany-
Berlin Battle- Started January 12, 1945. The Red Army broke the German front.
D-Day invasion- The invasion of the allies. Turning point in the war about 425,000 people died. Heavy loses, June 6, 1944.
Hitler- Pre-Leadership. His brother died. Art school. Broke, joined army.
Hitler- soldier. Partially blinded by gas attack. After war he was alone again so he went to Vienna Battlefield.
Hitler as a Chancellor in 1933 filled with promises. Depression.
Hitler leadership- Supreme commander of armed forces. Third Reich 1933-1945. Left League of Nations.
Hitler in WW2-Alliance with Japan. Declared Britain enemy. Made a military buildup. Exterminate Jews. Concentration camps. Hitler shot himself.
Important People-
Admiral Doenitz- Commander of the German Navy’s U-Boats until 1943.
Hermann Goering- 1893-1946 Chief of the Luftwaffe and the one the most powerful men in Germany.
War Impact-
Berlin Wall- Thousands crossed over. West went to the US. East went to the Soviet Union. Keep out of fascists. Taken down 1990.
Impact- Less powerful- no more great military no more dictatorship. US aid. Cold War started after this.
Treaty of Versailles- Lost land, a lot to Poland. Hitler reunite speaking people.
Countries they lost land too- France, Belgium, Denmark..
Military no ships no tanks no submarines. Germany had to pay $33 billion to the Allies. (GB/France)
The German Reaction to the Treaty of Versailles- They were not happy. Many didn't want the treaty to be signed.
Hitler- Born in Austria. Born in 1889. Failed to get into art school. Was actually very good at art. Goes into the army. Injured by gas attack.
Hitler Rise to power: President Paul von Hindenburg dies shortly after and Hitler dissolves the Weimer Republic.

Starts rearming Germany.

Hitler takes over all of Czechoslovakia in 1939.
Hitler took over in spring of 1940. Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, France, Denmark, Norway..
