Monday - G.B. - Winston Churchill - Was born into a rich family. He didn't have much of a relationship with either of his parents. Was captured reporting in Africa and had to walk 300 miles to safety. He was apart of the military before WW1. He was a prime minister. In the home front they gathered food for troops, formed other small groups to help in the home front. They got bombed errday by Germany. G.B. didn't have air superiority for the first while. Clement Attlee dealt with domestic affairs and the home front. He was the successor of Winston Churchill. Charles Portal was the chief of air staff. He eventually become Marshall of the Royal Air Force. After the war G.B. was poor and their economy wasn't very good. Woman had to work a lot because the men had been fighting in the war. Great Britain really tried to not ever have another world war after WWII. Battle of Britain was fought in G.B. They fought in Africa before we did and blocked Germany from the sea. After WWII G.B. was no longer a super power.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - U.S - F.D.R - Was leader most of WWII. Died in 1945. Japanese American people in U.S. were forced into camps. U.S. decided to focus in Germany first then attacked Japan with everything we had. D-Day we lost a lot of men. Dwight Eisenhower was leader of African fight, and D-Day, and became president in 1950's. Navajo language isn't breakable, that's one of the reason's we won. 17 million jobs created. Women started to get jobs and so did minorities. G.B, U.S., France, China, Soviet Union. 1935, 36, 37, and 1939 we signed neutrality acts. We felt we were pulled into war. Neutrality acts were to keep us out of the war. We didn't trade with any country in war, didn't give money to countries in war, and if you traveled and got sunk you we're on your own. If they wanted supplies they had to bring their own ships and pay cash for it up front. In 1940 we made a pact to give G.B. what they needed for 99 year leases on naval bases around the world. By Fall of 1941 us and Germany were very close to going to war. Every island invasion was like a little D-Day. December 7th Pearl Harbor, December 8th declared war. Nola Gay was the name of the plane that dropped the first bomb. June 6th 1944 D-Day. Convoy system is one of the most efficient ways to stop U-Boat attacks, but they came up with a different plan. Yalta Conference - United Nations meeting was set. Germany was split into 4 zones. Soviet Union, G.B., France, and U.S. all got a piece. Russia agreed to join the war against Japan. Harry Truman was FDR's vice president for a month before he became president. Woman took over at home and became nurses.
