1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?
Japan got alot of Germany's northern islands; the land taht germany got from china was givent to japan instead fo given back to china; they got to be part of the league of nations
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?
they had a two party political system after WWI (where two major parties dominate the votes at almost all elections; in 1918 Hara Takashi became the first common person to becameprome minister; in 1926, Hirohito becomes emporer; they had mostle a constitutional monarchy (the emporer is in charge but there are people that keep him from having too much power)
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
Hirohito was the son of prince yoshihito and princess sakado; when his grandpa (the emporer) died the prince and his dad became emporer; he went to all these schools and took a trip around europe and then his dad became sich with a mental illness, so therefore he became emporer. the military leaders were the ones that really did all of the things that made Japan go down the wrong path.

to expand their boundaries into mainland Asia; invasions

attacked pearl Harbor; treatment of POW's; wanted resources; chemical weapons

Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Croatia, and Manchukouo, Germany and Italy
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?
Japan was devastated following the war; all of the large cities and industries were badly damaged; also had a shortage of food taht lasted for years; Japan was occupied by the allied powers starting in August 1945; The US was mainly in charge of this. Japan lost all the territory acquired after 1894; Kurile islands were occupied by the Soviet Union; the Ryukyu islands were controlled by the US; war crime trials were held to dole out consequences; 500 military officers committed suicide; the emperor lost all political and military power; Japan was forbedden to ever lead a war again or to maintain an army; Atomic bomb effects; caused severe burns and blindness; most people close to explosion died; small symptoms were headaches and nausea; after ffects wre cancers and keloids; the death count reached 140000; Both cities were virtually destroyed; debris fell for over one hour.
Soviet Union
1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?
Soviet Union only lost land as a result of the treaty; a more notavle treaty was the Brest- Lotovsk treaty; peace treaty signed between the soviet Russian and the Central Powers.
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?
in 1917, Vladimir Lenin, starteda single- party dictatorship under the Bolsheviks; SU became a member of the league of nations in 1935; they were not allowed to join because of radical policies of thier communist government.
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
When Linin diedin 1924, stalin rose to power; command economy, replacing New economic policy; regain russia's land that was lost in WWI; signed the Non-agression pact with Hitler to give him more time to build up his army; modernize the economy, build strong military, spread ideas of communism, increase fod supply, increase raw material production.

It was at war with Hermany and Axix powers; signed non agression pact with Germany which ssplit up Poland in 1939; over 90000 Horman troops at Stalingrad surrendered to the Soviets n January 31, 1943;.. Huge turning point in the war against Germany; When soviet troops were pushing thru Berlin on April 30, 1945 Hitler took his own lie; war endd on May 2, 1945 when they captured Berlin

The big four allied powers of WWII wer england( Gread Britain, UK), US
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?
Lost over 20 million people, many civilians; armies remained powerful though; Expanded its borders because they defeated Hermay, Finland, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Romania
