March 2 - Finished presenting on Germany.
Notes on Germany: Lost land to France, Belgium, Denmark, Czech, and Poland. Wanted land back. Military was dismantled. $33 billion lost in Treaty of Versailles. Germany wasn't happy about this. Fuhrer (father) of the Nazi party. 

March 3 - More notes on Germany
Hitler rise to power: Appointed chancellor in 1933. President Paul von Hindenburg dies shortly after and Hitler dissolves the Weimar Republic. Early actions of Hitler: drops out of the League of Nations, starts rearming Germany, and rearms the German Rhineland area. Anschluss (Union) with Austria (1938). Munich Conference: Hitler was given the Sudetenland of Czech. Hitler promised that hew as done taking over territories. Hitler wanted to re-unite all German speaking people. Became known as the "Policy of Appeasement". Hitler takes over all of Czech 1939. Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact: Russia gave raw materials to Germany in exchange for money and weapons. Both agreed to stay neutral if the other entered the war. Hitler's greatest accomplishment was parading through the streets of Paris. France surrenders June, 1940. 

March 4 - Notes on Germany
Yugoslavia was taken over by Germany. 1939-42 Axis won everything. Mid 42-45 was more the Allies. Invasion of Britain continued to get pushed back. USSR Invasion- Millions of lives lost. Scorched Earth Policy- Stalin demanded this of the Soviet troops as they retreated. Battle of Moscow- The Soviet Winter counteroffensive. Stalingrad, worst battle (2 million casualties). Siege of Leningrad, people died of starvation. War in Africa was over in mid 43. US invaded north Africa. D-Day. Assassination attempt on Hitler. Liberation of Paris: August 25,1944. Battle of the BUlge is Hitler's last offensive. Hitler commits suicide on April 30th. May 8th, 1845. V E Day (Victory in Europe Day) German Propaganda - hated Jews. 12 million people died during the Holocaust. Israel was the place where Jews were put.
