Monday- Germany-
Treaty of Versailles- lots of anger from treaty of Versailles, the treaty was seen as forced on Germans, many Germans did not want the treaty, they didn't have a choice to sign it.
Hitler- was beaten, wanted to be an artist, born in 1889, sold art in Austria to make money, failed to get into the Austrian army, got into German army, got in trouble in school a lot, good speaker, leader of Nazi party, and manipulated a lot of people. He became leader through legal means, and dissolved the democracy, he rebuilt the army, dropped out of League of Nations,
Hitler's Trial- spoke a lot of Nationalism, only gave him 5 years for treason because many were Nazi sympathizers, and out in 9 months, writes his book, and was his own lawyer.
Non-Agression Pact- gave Germany raw materials to Germany for money and weapons, both agreed to stay neutral, Soviets agreed that if they attacked the Netherlands they would spit it with Germany.
Blitzkrieg-shock and awe the enemy, planes bombing first, troops, then tanks, to break through the front lines and then surround enemy.
During 1939-1940 people wondered if they were actually going to war with Germany but they just waited out the winter.
D-Day- we sent a lot of miss information to trick the Germans where we were going to attack. We attacked Omaha and Juno beach. We attacked and a major turn in the war.
Battle of the Bulge- Hitler made his last offensive, and tried to make it to the sea to surround Paris and make the US surrender. It was unsuccessful.
